This is Kristian Cvetkovic playing Chopin´s Heroic Polonaise (home amateur recording). Kristian was born on 2. November 1991 in Zug, Switzerland and plays the piano since he was 5 (http://www.cvetkovic.com ).

The performance is different from the one recorded in February 2007 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXp_Wklfzjc ). An effort has been made to introduce more dynamic nuances and to emphasize few "dancing" moments. Yet a Polonaise is not a Mazurka, so the principal concept is still "heroic". Hence the playing with strength, fever and majesty (no virtuosity for the sake of it, although this is ALSO a virtuous piece). Several comments/advices from the YouTube audience have been taken into account, however due to the room echo and the simple mono recording equipment it was unfortunately not possible to show the ideal concept, i.e. as this brilliant piece should/could sound in a concert hall.

*** Wishing everyone a safe, happy and prosperous New Year ***

  • Brilliant performance of a very difficult piece. A star is born..!

  • great playing

  • I acctually have a recording of you playing Beethoven's Opus 57 No 23 on free-scores. Now I see why it sounded so good. You are AWESOME!!!! And you go playing those 16th notes with only one hand before the right hand notes come in. Most other's I've seen use both hands for that section.

  • Outstanding playing!! (a quick suggestion) in the bar beginning 5:16, you could maybe experiment with using the middle pedal so that the accented "c" will sing with the "e" at the start of the next bar? No criticisms, fabulous work :D

  • Outstanding performance!! (one quick suggestion) in the bar beginning 5:14, you could possibly experiment with using the middle pedal on the accented "c", so it would sing nicely with the "e" in the following bar? no criticisms, fabulous playing :D
