I do get annoyed when people have to start saying one version of a song is better than another. It begs the question of how they know? Or is it just that they prefer one version to another, which is fair enough. A live audience once voted for Elvis Costello's version of She over Aznavour's original. They clearly couldn't appreciate the quality of Aznavour and opted for the familiar. And I'm afraid that's what I hear with some of the preferences expressed here. Matt Monro is top quality.

Eva sings it in completely another style !!...Besides Autumn leaves has a simple classical melody, and when you start improvising and frazing, then the melody is lost !!...That´s what Eva did...

Matt's voice ranks up amongst the greats of all time. His delivery, announciation and emotion is second to none. One of my all time favourite singers. Just subllme and I have such wonderful memories of listening to him with my late Dad who adored him, thanks for sharing!

@RealMusicKing I'm certainly not going to argue against Nat Cole. All I will say is that there are too many quality versions of this song, all styles from Miles Davis to Juliette Greco, for it to belong to any one artist. I like to hear what a great artist brings to this song without having to rate or rank them against each other. I think Matt has such a soothing voice you can underestimate how good he is. But no offence taken, I love Nat too. What would you give to have Nat and Matt back?

Great version fantastic voice...such a shame it has triangles, bells, whistles, harps etc going off behind is sincere beautiful voice
