Demonstration of the Sonuus G2M Universal Guitar to MIDI Converter.

Played by Jim Hollands

I am running my Les Paul into the G2M, then into my computer using the Roland UM-1 MIDI to USB cable. I am then simply using the 'Solitude' Synth Lead patch in HalionOne.

The G2M is a really great and cheap way to convert your guitar to MIDI and start playing some synth guitar solos. It takes a bit of getting used to as you have to play very accurately for the tracking to be effective.

  • DOES THE SONNUS G2M HAVE ANY LATENCY????????

  • @GYPSYROMA777 well, yeh it does as any MIDI device will, theres always going to be a degree of latency. It is noticeable but actually quite minimal, you could definitely play live using the G2M. As long as your other devices your using (synth or MIDI interface) don't add much latency you'll be fine. There is a good video on youtube somewhere demonstrating the latency, have a look for it.

  • @drewhet i will never dis someones skills or their likes of music. this kid has a better map to the guitar than i. i am one to absorb composition and sonics. the drums get tiresome that is all. it is just the same as everything.

  • @aquiferarts A few people seem to be not be getting the idea of this video. It is in no way a track to show compositional skills or to have any artistic value it is simply a demonstration of the tracking ability of the G2M. The track was chosen as I thought it was a very neutral track if you know what I mean, has lots of changes, a modulation. It is purely functional rather than artistic. Thanks for the comment though, and thanks for watching.

  • @jimhollandsmusic yo jimmi, i hear ya, i really do. I was interested in to see how the G2M would react to bends and pull offs. I would actually use it to launch samples with my guitar, so i was wondering how it would work with an instrument that is not a dedicated midi instrument, as you have used here. Thanks for your time, keep on rockin in the free world. peace from canada.

  • @aquiferarts hey man, thanks for getting back.for bends its surprisingly good with some instruments, some not so good, with a piano sound it is shocking and a horrible sound as i'm sure you would have guessed. can't help that much in terms of using it as a trigger. closest I've done is to try and play drum sounds and its not actually that responsive for that, although i can't see why you couldn't run the jack from any audio output, like a keyboard with no midi connections for example and do that

  • Dear bro.

    Very Nice Demo.

one Question? I also bought G2m, I have Roland xp30, How to connect xp30 midi audio out to amplifier ? I can`t Understand the Manuel demo map. Pl. guide me. Thanks.

  • @drewhet Thanks! Herre i'm using a Mackie Onyx Satellite audio interface. Its great as a small (2 input) AI and fantastic for the price.

  • @stratocaster539 It's actually pretty good I find. Just takes some time to get used to. Great for practicing and improving technique. It tracks very well no matter how fast you play as long as you play each note cleanly, which obviously forces you to play with good technique, which occasionally I don't in this video, however as you can see there are some points where I tried to put in some fairly fast runs and it tracks them pretty well.

  • Hi Jim! I like the way you play, congratulations to him. The backingtrack can download it from somewhere, so happy on it?
