  • As far as Daniel "walking out" on Jackie during her illness, I don't judge him. As a retired physician, I recall the shock I had seeing a picture of Jackie at least 200lbs heavier from being over-dosed on steroids. That was a shock to ME and I have myself treated patients with MS. And of course I remember my own patients with this awful condition. The entire issue is unbearable, and even now causes me tears. My heart aches for all of them, as well as their families...

  • who cares?! that is their PRIVATE business. barenboim, i know for a fact, cared for du pre until the day she died. all that concerns us is the legacy of music she left

  • Thank you for this wonderful music played by duPre!

Do you happen to have the first movement?

  • thanks for postin!

  • These comments are disgraceful. Don't you think Daniel and Jacqueline loved each other, and were both adorable? This video is enough to prove it. And Barenboïm supported her to the end.

  • Beatiful!! Outstanding. Personally I love this Sonata, for me it combines sorrow with some type of happiness and magnificence. The players did an incridible performance

  • This is a magnificent video. Thanks also for you interesting comments pope and sanjose. I think its very clear they loved each other. Their musical communication is just special. Both are wonderful musicians.

  • It's nice listening to this remastered on CD, and you don't get the annoying 1960's camera work. The cameramen when they recorded her doing the elgar must have had a late night...

  • To pope0331:

Thank you for your reply. This was just a "feeling" I had, but I am not in the least surprised. There is tragedy in this case to cover all the individuals. As far as Martha is concerned, she is an incredible talent, but an extremely complex person. I would also sustpect the same of Jackie...in a way. Marriage to either could not be easy, even without a gigantic musical career!
