PILOT EPISODE: From linear codes like UPC which is widely used on products you see in stores to 2D barcodes are becoming popular, especially in Japan with QR Code. Microsoft Tag is becoming popular as well and is widely used largely for mobile advertising.
Recorded on July 16, 2010
The mobile age includes the ability to scan a 2d barcode, which is a a group of squares, dots, and diamonds that tells the phone what to do. Like 1d barcodes, a linear set of lines that tells a barcode reader, such as cash registers, what the number is, then the register compares it to a database returning information about that product. That is what 2d barcodes are. In this show, we examine both Microsoft Tag and QR Codes.
