Here, Coach Carlos shows a Monson choke during a recent no-gi night at Bowie MMA. Note the detail in describing hip position and walking the toes, as well as position of the opponent's head relative to your armpit/shoulder. You'll learn what works and what doesn't work in this no-gi north south submission choke.
Coach Carlos is a former NAGA Absolute Champion (5 years in a row) and trained under Hoyler Gracie to earn his BJJ White through Brown Belts. He then started studying under BJJ Red and Black Belt Sergio Penha to earn his BJJ Black Belt.
One of his most famous students is Anthony Argyros who recently earned his BJJ Black Belt. Anthony is one of the most successful grapplers in the country today and was named NAGA Grappler of the Decade (2000-2009). With over 90 first-place competition victories, he's a perfect example of the level of instruction... and he's never scored a point on Carlos.
