The original fender is bend up.
The gap and holes are filled with epoxy-based glass fiber filler.

@MProper Umm dude its 15 te factory in the front! i just buy some my mine Dr650 03! and i put 44 in the back instead its insane:P il post some vids

Mine is a 93' SP44, is totaly different to the 03' SP46.
