They aren't supposed to contact each other. If they do they can wear against each other. They must intersect each other allowing for a few thousandths clearance but they must not contact each other.

This is a helical blower. Most industrial Roots blowers have straight rotors.

Same here, I happen to be drawling a roots blower in school. my Impellers do not contact eachother in the full rotation. Could you somehow send me a dimensioned profile of one of yours?
