Dallas is an wonderful city with the largest arts district in the U.S., the largest urban wetlands in the U.S. Great symphony, opera, and incredible shopping, and more restaurants per capita than NYC; and all surrounded by lakes, and beautiful neighborhoods. I wonder how you got the impression you have ? South Dallas is vibrant with the Bishop Arts District, and sought after neighborhoods such as Kessler Park, Winnetka Heights, Wynnewood, Elmwood, Druid Hills, etc.

South side slums are huge...too many trailer parks...gernally full of hicks and rednecks. Just a terrible town.
