My Sisterlocks were installed on Oct. 29, 2010. Two consultants installed 310 Sisterlocks over the course of 13 hours. I had 5 to 6 inches of stretched, natural hair.

This video shows my growth and hair styles over the past year.

  • @VirtueVee, I don't put any special products on my hair. I just wash with shampoo and spritz with water every day. I was braiding and banding when I washed. (I don't have to braid and band anymore). I removed the braids when my hair was 90 percent dry. That process kept my hair looking fresh and defined. A SL trainee told me that my hair texture was not prone to frizz. Try braid outs, twist outs, cornrow outs, Bantu knot outs, etc. These styles stretch and smooth the hair.

  • @VirtueVee, Thanks so much!

  • Beautiful! I have a question. You said that you had 5 to 6 inches of stretched natural hair during your installation. What did you do to prepare your hair? Did you blow it out? My hair is around 5 inches stretched, and I'm trying to decide if I should keep these kinky twist extensions in my hair until I gain more length or just do it now. Sad to say, but I length issues and I REALLY wanna elongate my hair before installation day, but my consultant said not to blow it out. Help?

  • @Imani1824 Thanks for the compliment. I washed my hair to prepare it and wore it in an afro. My consultant actually cut my hair to 5 to 6 inches to even it out. It was actually much longer, 12 inches in some spots. It shrunk down to 3 inches, maybe less, once installed.

Think about your length with 2-strand twists or braids. Do you like that length, or do you want your hair to be longer? That's what the approximate length will be with Sisterlocks.

  • love the video, the ending was great

  • I LOVE YOUR LOCS THEY ARE SO PRETTY

  • I meant to ask a question, in your pics your locs look so defined, is there anything special you do to achieve the smooth look your locs carry? Mine are a bit frizzy even still at 16 months. Any advice for correcting the fuzzies?

  • What a great journey vid, one of the best I've seen so far, simply gorgeous!

  • I LOOOVVEE IT :-D
