Fender Blues Jr - Mercury Magnetics Mod

So... until I can afford a nice amp like Matchless or 65 amps or Bad Cat I've decided to make the amp I have now sound a little better. I've ordered the cream board kit, recap kit (just in case), a new input jack, a stand-by switch, and presence control from Bill M's website. Almost ordered the output tranny from him. I did my research and found a lot of people were satisfied with his, nothing bad was said about it but I just figured Mercury Magnetics have been around longer, they used to make the transformer for Matchless amps. So, in the end I decided to go with the MM tranny

Thanks for posting.......So, after the change to the Mercury Transformer (honestly) , what if any differences can you hear ? and is the change, if any, worth the price of the transformer ?

@rhykko77 I CAN hear a difference. The changes in tone were stated in the video, can't say that I disagree with my initial thoughts now that I've got some real use out of it. Is it worth it? I guess it depends on how seriously you take your tone. It was definitely worth it to me. I think it's also worth noting that this (mod) has given my amp the greatest tone improvements of them all. Pacific Transformer makes a bitchin' transformer. The difference between a mercury and a pacific is like removing a blanket over the speakers once you drop a pacific in. The pacific transformers react really fast too; its like it sucks the notes right out of your fingers

Just a heads up, It looks like your filter caps are leaking. You might want to change those.
