Today, I really miss my friend, Hulah Gene Hurley. I was the one who drove her to the emergency room for the last time. The last thing she requested was a cold glass of water before going in. I shall never forget our friendship and her mentoring spirit in my life. She also spent 2 weeks at my home in October of the year before she passed. What a privilege it was! I felt like musical royalty was under my humble roof. The impact has lingered all these years.
Rest In Peace Mrs. Hurley! I Miss You Directing Us Every Sunday With Your Smile and Passion For Gospel Music! Everyone Carolyne Is Doing A Whole Lot Better and Comes To Church Every Sunday!
Lawd Rowoches, bro thank you for this post i had wondered what ever happened to Hulah Jean. I loved her song "He is so divine" and "so glad i'm His child" on James Cleveland album. I once owned this album. thank you thank you thank you.
Please pray for Carolyne. I had a chance to speak to her mother back in '03 a couple of ears before her passing of course, and I spoke to Herbert pickard. They both told me of Carolyne being in a mental hospice because she had mental health failure from the '80's up, so please keep her in prayer. I play for Dorothy Norwood sometimes when she performs here in Atlanta GA where we stay so I will ask how she is if she knows. God bless
"I Know It Was the Blood" has been posted. Although Hulah Gene does not lead this, James Cleveland does, that top soprano note that she does over and over is just one thing that made her a topic of discussion in those days. I recall that you wanted to hear her from that era. Take a listen, please.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW I MIGHT BE ABLE TO CONTACT CAROLYNE, IF SO PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I think Carolyne is a Second Soprano.

Hulah's Coloratura Soprano complimented Carolyne's Second Soprano beautifully.
