most movies that do southern screw up the accents BIG time but this one is solid most of the time...not the whole time..kathy bates is off here and there but overall, her accent is respectable

@yieldyieldyield There's a Towanda in North Carolina too, I think. My mom loves this movie and made my dad drive through Towanda while we were on vacation :)

One of the best movies of all time! I loved it when it first came out in 1991 and still do. Excellent cast, excellent movie. Oh, in case you haven't tried them, fried green tomatoes are YUMMY, especially with beans & cornbread! :D
