Senator Tom Harkin reminded those at the meeting that while it's easy to get caught up in the debate over numbers and policy details, it's ultimately about making progress to help ordinary folks across the country struggling under today's broken system. Senator Harkin said, "I keep thinking we have got to bring it back home to what this is all about. We all have our stories. I got a letter yesterday from a farmer in Iowa that really encapsulates it. [He said] 'I'm a 57-year-old Iowa farmer. I'm writing to voice my concern regarding my family's rapidly escalating health care costs. On Saturday, February 20th, I received a notice informing me that our health insurance premium will be increasing $193.90 per month to a monthly total of $1,516.20. This is a 14.6% increase.'"

  • It seems that whenever Democrats give rhetoric, their videos are rated terribly. Republicans are often rated well in such cases, though.

Yet when it comes to debate, I can't find a single video on a Republican catching a Democrat on a lie. And all the many of these videos showing the debate between the two, and especially the ones praising the Democrats, are rated the highest.

Democrats should debate more. They are better at logic and reasoning than creating noise and inciting fear and urgency

  • 1200$ a month family of four in CA. Tell John Mccain tort reform is bullshit. If they don't give us reform, we need to get our pitch forks and torchs and head to washington. Give me health care reform of give me death !!! At this rate it would be alort cheaper...

  • @auriciangelescu

I am going to write a letter to the President and lobby for a Public OPtion.

  • Former Republican Speaker Bill Frist's family owns a healthcare organization, surely no one thought healthcare would be addressed while he was Speaker of the House. He stood to become infinately richer by the rapidly spiralling costs.

  • hehe say Barack Obama initials aloud

  • with obama in office we all will become slaves soon enough thanks to Rockefeller people need to open there eyes specially you politicians that are wasting your time this is all just a big joke to these wealthy folks that own our industrial banks

  • And not only that, only the most corrupted ones get the worst of the disease and they'd be forced to pay the heaviest price just as well. And only those who actually pay their penance will get to be freed from this disease as long as it changes the errors of their ways permanently. That's my one wish.

  • You know what I wanna do? I wanna infect the greediest politicians along with their pimp Corporate CEOs and lobbyist with a non-lethal virus that can inflict so much pain that if they want to be cured of their agonizing disease, they'd have to pay the price. What would that price be?

Simple, it's forcing them to repent out in open public in the most humiliating way and that they must redeem themselves by actually getting their acts together. (cont'd)

  • On the contrary, he's been trying to fight for the public option. Not voting him for 2012 will kill all and any chance for a public option to be realized. The pimping corporations that control the politician ho's are responsible for killing the public option.
