  • Will she let any one else beside you touch or hold her??.... My sister had a Blue Front and no one but her could get near that bird, and if you got too close to my sister the bird would attack you.... We were told that is how Blue Fronts were

  • @mrdouglas51510

She will allow my daughter to hold her, she is partial to females. Winnie does not like males too well. She does not attack anyone, She will growl at them if they get too close but not attack.

  • How big does this type of Amazon get

  • She is as big as she is going to get.

  • Nightmare, If this would be your first bird, I would recommend a budgie. They are easier to care for and are not as demanding as most of the others. Also if you have never had a bird, a budgie would give you a little taste of what being owned bird is like.

Six hours isn't really that terribly long for them to be alone but I would recommend some one on one time with the bird each day.

  • Great bird! how are they as pets? . I want to get one, but I'm concerned about it spending 10h a day alone when I'm at work... Help me out if you can with your experience with this beautiful critter.

    All the best. K.

  • I have been told Zons do not make good pets, but in my experience with Winnie I find it hard to believe. She is a wonderful bird.

I would not get a Zon or any other bird if it is going to be alone for 10 hours a day, its not fair to the bird. But that is my opinion. I'm sure others will disagree with me.

Best of luck to you, ' Lisa

  • We've got an amazon. He bonded at first to my mom, and eventually, when I was older and my mom was away working, I became his number two. Unfortunately, he grew to become very territorial of me, and now attacks my sister. :( Poor Kristi. Lucky you with Winnie. How adorable she is!

  • haha mine growls too =)

  • i realy like him

  • Hey these are great birds, very loving, just listen to this one. We have one, Basil, he is called, looks just like this one, he is about 11 years old now, he says bye bye, to me when I go out to work, in the morning, and Hello! when I come back in. I just can't get him to step up, he is ok off his cage, he will walk onto my hand, but the traumas, I have had getting him to step up off his cage.

  • such a pretty bird. i might be getting one soon.

  • You have a very cute parrot! :) I just got a 3-month old amazon parrot today, and he seems very scared of me. He is surprisingly very quiet (does not even chirp)..and really likes his cage. When I take him out to pet him, he sometimes "flies" to the cage and climb back up. However, he doesnt scream or anything. Do you know if I should just leave him alone? Or is this a sign that he just doesn't like me? Any tips? Thanks! :)

  • aww thats a cracking amazon very clever! how old is he/she? mine just turned a year old and has some of the same impressions like dancing but doesnt laugh quite as well. says a few things. hello, wheres ma boy and a few bad things lol. also the wolf whistle.

  • I might get an amazon parrot, Q
