why is it freshest when it is boiled alive?

i thought it tastes better when you kill it before you cook it because the muscles are less temped up from the stress?

@polaspring I'm sorry to take so long to reply. I just saw this message. It's freshest to cook this way. You can use the Julia Child method also. I sometimes find that shell very hard to crack. The important thing is to buy lobsters live.

Oh here we go again. Why do you come to this site? To check on people who cook lobsters to disrespect them? We eat animals. It can't be fun for any of them. I cooked lobster live because that's how they are freshest. But let's face it fish suffocate, many animals suffer and feel pain. This is not the place for it. This is a cooking show.

It's official. There is no more room for haters here. I attended a class at the French Culinary Institute last night. We discussed how to kill the lobster. The chef demonstrated using a knife to cut in the middle of the head. But for most of the lobsters he just pulled them apart. He confirmed that they do not feel pain. In fact lobsters are very ruthless themselves. They attack eachother, eat eachother, and even eat themselves. Yes, folks, that's the truth.

I think it looks good.. I think I am going to get a live lobster tonight now.. Im not one for caring about what others think.. I also hunt deer and people are also against that.. but the deer die kinda fast so no worries... thats why they are here.. .. can you believe lobster used to be given to slaves in England cause they were considered rats of the sea.. lol

i give you props for this video. I even expected more 'hate' than it you actually got here.. probably most people don't think where the meat comes from when they eat a CHEAP Burger.... believe me, i think they don't wanna know.....

No critic but i would boil the water first an dive in the lobster head first...

should be more convenient to most people...
