Every summer, members of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain hit the galleries of Tate Modern to make illuminating connections between music and art. Just as modern artists draw on the past while breaking new ground, contemporary composers often salute their predecessors in their music. Here an NYO ensemble - Olivia Jarvis (violin), John Hewitt-Jones (viola), David Sloan (cello), Oliver Pashley (clarinet) and Lliam Paterson (keyboard) - coached by Pablo Heras-Casado (conductor) perform Oliver Knussen's Fantasia on one note, inspired by Purcell's 17th century Fantasias.
The Viola player was in BBC young musician right? Really good! :D
