Kreautzer is a well-known book of violin exercises. This was one of the things I had to play for a college audition in May. The rhythm wasn't perfect. Aside from the odd quarter or half note, the entire piece was made up entirely of triplets. By the end of the piece I might have been going a little faster or slower than my original starting tempo. This is because I was more focused on intonation rather than rhythm. As you can see some of those high notes on the E string were a bit uncertain. I plan to do more work on this, and post a remake.

  • your bowing technique for this etude is wrong. you need to grip the string in the beginning of each note, quickly release, and then regrip before the next note each time.

  • Hi, im very impressed by the strength in your 4th finger. what did you do to build it up?.. any tips?

    thanks.

  • I think this was my favorite Kreutzer Etude . Nop. I am sure this one was my favorite .

You seem a little bit in a hurry .

  • Put the violin on your collar bone. It will take some time as your body is not used to it (ie. you will be sore). You want to make absolutely sure that your left shoulder doesn't rise to 'help keep the violin up'. The violin should balance between your collar bone and your thumb/index finger contact-point on the neck.

  • Some tips?

  • I play without a shoulder rest all the time. It's easy.

  • Please, tell me, how can you play without the shoulder rest? Doesn't your violin slip on you T-shirt? If I play naked ( ;P) it's ok, but in a blouse... becomes a horror.
