Sayed Mahdi Al-Modaressi talks about how fasting the day of Ashura has become common between some Muslims. This fasting came from the Jewish. So how can the prophet takes ideas from the Jewish but not Allah.

  • To be perfectly honest why are we muslims intent I'm creating divisions between ourselves? does it really matter which school of thought you follow? personally I don't agree with the views expressed within this video as it was specified that the muslims should fast on the 9th and 10th of muharram unlike the Jews who only fast on the 10th. another point is to ask ourselves who are we to question the prophet's (pbuh) teachings, methods and wisdom?

  • @theboast1 Salam brother, you're right that we shouldn't divide ourselfs and we should unit but understanding an important event in the history is vital. The day of Ashura is not like other days. It is the day when Imam Hussain was killed by (so called) Muslims. The question in the video about the narration not questioning the prophet's method. From where this narration (Hadeeth) came from? analysing it and comparing it with other narrations...etc. Regards

  • In the name of Allah: " WA MAA YANTEQO ANIL HAWA". Allah says in Quran that prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) does not speak of his own, whatever he said and done were all came from Allah. and if you don't believe that then you don't believe in Quran which is words of Allah. Allah knows best.

  • @DawarAhmad welcome brother. We're not questioning the words of the prophet. we know that whatever he said is coming from Allah. The question is about the narration. Was it really what the prophet said or did?? if it doesn't make sense then we have to do research about the narration. Regards

  • @mahboop Brother, to make something halaal haraam on the basis of Hussein (radhiallahu 3anhu) is actually kufr, Plus the Prophet Sallallahu 3alayhi wasallam recommended to fast on the 9th and 10th Muharram and not to single out the 10th muharram. So yet again the shia are mistaken in this regard. No doubt we ahlul sunnah condemn the killers of hussain (radhiallahu 3anhu) but to make this a focal point?? Doubt it being from the religion.

  • Brother Mahboop. you are missing the whole point what the Sayed Mahdi is say if that the hadeeth narrated is a faluse hadeeth, a fabrication or a weak at best. And the other brother that say we are not copying the Jews cus we fast on the 9th and 10th when Jews fast on the 10th or whatever like missing it by one day is such a great difference. This guy also misses the point that its the Prophet's grandson death by the hands of other supposedMuslims, worst yet the issue is still being uncommemora.

  • This is just a rumour or a false statement that you have been told. There is no authentic proof for this. Why dont u accept the authentic statements in several books that prove the fasting was an act of our prophet Muhammad PBUH? Why follow a false hate-spreading rumour? We muslims fast in order to emulate and follow our prophets (pbuh) Sunnah (which means his way). Not to celebrate astaghfirullah. The people who are happy with Husseins (RA) death are not muslims. We all love Ahlul bayt (AS).

  • The man who killed Hussein (RA) was actually one of the traitors of Kufa. This is recorded in your books as well as ours. His name was Shimr bin Thil-Jawshan and joined Yazids men although he was from the Shia'at of Kufa. “I say, Shimr was in the forces of Ameer al-Mu’mineen on the Day of Siffin.” (Al-Qummi, “Safinatun-Najaat”, vol.4, p. 492, Chapter Sheen Followed by Meem). That is by AlQummi, a famous classical Shia scholar. NO fasting was 'ordered' to celebrate the great Hussain's (RA) death.

  • We know he is worthy of being the khalifa, but he gave it over because he did not trust the people that pledged allegiance to him. This is not a topic to discuss here anyway. As for the people who killed Hussein (RA), the people of Kufa betrayed Hussein (RA) who they pledged allegiance to and did not intervene. IT was the people who sent him the letters from Kufa who betrayed him and did not stand up againt injustice to protect him.

  • He says: “By Allah, I handed over power to him for no reason other than the fact that I could not find any supporters. Had I found supporters I would have fought him day and night until Allah decides between us. But I know the people of Kufa. I have experience of them. The bad ones of them are no good to me. They have no loyalty, nor any integrity in word or deed. They are in disagreement. They claim that their hearts are with us, but their swords are drawn against us.” [Al-Kafi, vol. 8 p. 288]

  • Firstly the people who overthrew Hassan RA were not 'Sunnis'. This is in agreement with Shia and Sunni scholars. Hassan (RA) gave the khilaafa to Mu'awiyah after 6 months of being the khalifa.Hassan (RA) says (in your own books): “By Allah, I think Muawiyyah would be better for me than these people who claim that they are my Shia.” [Abû Mansûr at-Tabarsî, al-Ihtijâj vol. 2 p. 290-291 , Mu’assasat al-A‘lamî, Beirut 1989]

  • @jihadkader Fasting is done to celebrate a day, the people who killed Imam Hussein also fasted to celebrate his killing. Later, the state ordered the celebrating of the day of Ashura to destroy Hussein's memory. Makes perfect sense.

  • @usman606060 This man is a sayyed, he comes from a famous scholarly family that descends from the Prophet, Sunnis overthrew Hassan during his six month caliphate by supporting Mauwiyah's insurgence in Syria, and subsequently supported Yazid's caliphate. That's why he says that.

  • As for fasting the 3rd day of Muharram because of the release of Yusuf (AS), I have never heard of this in my life. Please send me some authentic reliable evidence that proves that fasting on the 3rd of Muharram for that reason was an action of our Prophet Muhammad PBUH and I will also fast this day...
