Performance of ancient Chinese instrument chiba (尺八, shakuhachi)

The chiba is an ancient Chinese Tang Dynasty instrument that was imported to Japan sometime around the 8th century, where it continued its life and evolution as the "shakuhachi." It was eventually introduced back into China. In its ancient and earliest form, the chiba is practiced by 30 to 50 masters worldwide. The instrument is demonstrated above by a young musician named Xing Zhe （行者） at Dandeli Art Space in Beijing.
