@scubaslawncare no CDL. I have a 1976 Loadstar 16 just like this one. They have hydraulic brakes, and the bigger ones like the 180s technically require a CDL with the air brakes. these 1600s are basically like giant pickup trucks. Mine is great with the 345 gas IH motor and 4 speed. 50mph all day long! bought mine for $1100 and cant beat it.
Nice looking & sounding Loadstar!!! I have a '76 with a 345 and a 4 and 2 transmission as well as a chassis mounted camper body that I bought used for $478, It's in pretty good condition, It has a few dents & dings but otherwise runs & drives great!!!!

do you need a cdl to drive one? I am thinking of buying a 1977 loadstar 1700.

The local Fire Dept. had a 1800 Load Star and it served for years. I think it was '66 modle and equipt with a 345.
