Mandatory spending in the form of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and interest on the national debt is growing every year and making it more and more difficult to balance the budget.
This video walks through a visualization of the budget by 2017 and wonders if it is prudent to add healthcare reform to the portion of the budget that can't be reduced.
If you're looking for details of how I got these numbers, I explain in enormous detail over at by blog:

You try taking it away. The pharma companies and the rest of the medical industry that lives off that trough would rally all the old folks to string you up by your thumbs. Everybody wants smaller government, but just don't try to reduce THEIR slice of the pie. Everyone's solution is to cut the OTHER guys entitlement program, whether it's subsidizing religion, housing and feed the poor, subsidizing some farm crop or some military program for local jobs.
Selfish self interest is driving this country down this path. So sad to see a once proud nation that pulled together during hardship now adopting this "every man for himself" attitude.
It is all about money to them. They don't give a crap they think we are an endless money pit. More government programs to cover up their last ones. It is so sad that they think we are going to foot their fucking bills that cause damage to our country. How can we afford this? Just explain that.
Real nice job brushing off any attempt to actually understand that last part you're talking about by just calling it "bubbles" and leaving it at that. The first part was good though.
i am an ardent obama supporter, and although these videos have not changed my mind in that respect, they have in a sense opened my eyes? to to the cost of everything. I would ask you to make a video in which you can show us the healthcare bill with savings thereof clalculated in, as well as societal costs vs benefits...i think that would be cool. THe problem ppl had with bushs spending was that he was going 68mph over Iraqi oil, and obam is going 178 trying to stop ppl from sufferingimoutaroom
