Such animosity between allies?
Both US and UK suffered over 400,000 fatalities in WW2. UK and ComWlth kept Hitler at bay and had major victories beating Rommel in Africa, sinking Bismarck etc
US came along. Added machinery and muscle and - together - we liberated France. We can argue all day about timing but sacrifice, however late, is better than none. Sarkozy doesnt speak for all France. Hes a politician sucking up to Obama. The intelligent French remember the UK as well as US.
