  • wouldn't it be nice if foreign countries donated money to help rebuild like we shell out at countries all the time after any national disaster

  • Please withdraw the entire US soldier from Muslim countries and get them to construct Joplin. As a Muslim I pray for all the victims for their well being.

  • The "side view" perspective of the storm should be used more often to incorporate a better perspective of its internal motives and the possibilities of a vortex forming, all the equipment is ready to use now with inhanced dopplier and side view radar, upgraded infrared, and spectrum scanners!

  • @TheMightykaz oh yes, significantly more intense tornado than the tuscaloosa tornado

  • When ever i see all that red over my area i sh*t myself.

  • This, combined with "Joplin MO Tornado Radar May 22 2011" by @vtruss8 is some of the best radar data I've seen.

  • Google "Joplin Storm Manipulation"

  • @wayniac917 The reason Americans donate money to other countries is because they actually have extra money that they can spare and donate to other countries. Countries with their own government can not help their own people to have a decent life especially after a disaster. But I am sure that if they had 50 cents to spare they would.

  • @f00dl3 I do believe that the weather channel was airing some of it live (they kept checking back and forth with meteorologist Mike Bettes and other storm chasers). They started to chase the storm when it started. I remember there was a lot of talk about how the week was going to be perfect for tornados and so many storm chasers where all excited this day to start. I rarely watch the weather channel because their watches on their maps circle the whole state and never try to be specific.

  • 18,000 feet is nuts! The Tuscaloosa was picking up debris around 8,000 feet. That gives an idea of the power of the Joplin tornado.

  • My family and I lived in joplin and watched the tornado skip of Galena and into joplin

  • Yeah, but was The Weather Channel actually covering the storm when it dropped the tornado? I am awed by the fact that as of the last 15 years or so The Weather Channel has switched into being more of a "Rember when that storm hit our house?" instead of a live what's happening now station.
