More than 750 Dickinsonians raised nearly $60,000 to battle cancer during the second-annual Dickinson College Relay for Life. The Relay raised funds for the American Cancer Society and offered a chance to celebrate the lives of cancer victims and survivors, remember loved ones lost to the disease and support efforts to find a cure.
A national fundraiser that is held in separate ceremonies across the country, Relay for Life raises funds to support cancer research and quality-of-life programming for cancer patients. The 24-hour event at Dickinson included a ceremony to honor loved ones touched by, or lost to, cancer and testimonials by cancer caregivers and survivors. The survivors and their caregivers reminded students of the impact they make by participating in this event, explained Darcy Phillips 11, who helped organize the event.
