this is me playing BWV 556 at Washington Street Baptist Church in Lynn, MA.

I'm not a big fan of this piece, but some hot-shot "challenged" me to make a video of me playing it to prove that he played it horribly. Enjoy!

  • I've been playing the organ for about a year now. This is my first of the little eight, and I've got the prelude down, working on the fugue now.

You must have a rock solid piano background if you've only been playing the organ 6 months!!

  • thanks a lot man. i played piano for 8 years before i took a four year break and then started organ. been doing keys for about 15 years now. i've always been a good sight-reader, so that's how i learn things so fast. i just have trouble memorizing...

  • Very bad performance.

You've to leran a lot, if you can play this peace without so much mistakes.

  • i'd been playing organ for like 6 months when this was recorded. i posted a recording of myself playing the third movement of bach's third trio sonata, so go listen to that and let me know what you think.

  • I like this piece, nice performance and organ! Sounds like a Hook-Hastings organ, what make is it? By the way have you gotten to arranging to play the organ at the Advent? I'd love to see a video of you playing there!

  • it's a 1930 Moller. First organ in the area to have an electic blower. sadly, there are no mixtures or mutations and no pedal reeds, but i do the best with what i've got. i haven't had a chance to get into advent yet, i'm in the midst of getting ready for an organ competition in connecticut, but i'm going to try next week. the advent organ is one that marshall and ogletree would love to have in their sample library...

  • @riverscuomo06 - I'm a terrible sight-reader. I've been working on this prelude in my spare time for a couple of weeks. I'll have to give the fugue a go soon. I've been away from piano for 10 years and it has really begun to show. My left hand is absolutely abominable! I'm hunting for some relatively simple Baroque pieces to use as postludes at church.

  • Very nice performance, but I always preferred true baroque phrasing. In the left hand with those ascending eighth notes grouped by threes, I always put a slight break every second set, and don't hold notes over bar lines. Since you don't have true dynamics on an organ the way you release your notes is how to give life to a piece. Also a very slightly slower tempo would allow for more expressiveness. Overall though, still a very impressive job! Very good technique!

  • Wonderful! Spririted!! Great job!

  • That was really lovely.. on the ascending triplets in the prelude I try to use my wrist more rather than fingers and slightly detach the notes, despite the legato markings. The organ still emphasises the legato, the notes will just sound less jumbled :)

  • You sound great. For Six months. WOW!!! keep it up.

  • Very good
