Dan Prescher reports from Merida, Mexico, with your weekly wrap-up of International Living postcards for the week ending October 9. (Sign up for these free daily postcards at: http://internationalliving.com/daily-postcards/

On October 5, Lee Harrison writes on the alleged coup in Ecuador, a topic that really lit up the International Living Facebook page last week. Lee's lived in Ecuador and has seen several presidents come and go there... his take on what really happened and how it affects expats on the ground there is a real eye opener. If Ecuador is on your radar, you'll want to read Lee's postcard.

On October 6, I wax nostalgic about our recent Live & Invest Overseas Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a record-setter... the largest event in the 30-year history of International Living. More good information was presented here than at any past conference, and you can get it for yourself... every word, presentation, and graphic. Find out how in my postcard.

Suzan Haskins takes us on a tour of one of Mexico's most charming, and safe, colonial cities, Merida, the capital of Yucatan state. There is something around every corner and behind every wall here in this remarkable historic capital, and Suzan's postcard contains a video of some of the sights and sounds you'll find here.

Chris Hunter, International Living's money man, tells you why central banks all over the world are in a desperate struggle to devalue their currencies right now. That should ring alarm bells and raise red flags for dollar holders, and Chris give us three easy, specific ways to protect your savings from a falling dollar.

Ronan McMahon of Pathfinder Real Estate takes us along on his latest adventure in the Caribbean. It starts off with a bit of a rough ride, but ends up at what Ronan thinks may be the best island buy in the entire Caribbean right now. Find out where Ronan is this week in his October 9 postcard.

That's it from me for this week. Sign up for all these postcards and more for free here: http://internationalliving.com/daily-postcards/ and don't forget to visit the International Living Facebook page.

  • Seems that all is calm in Ecuador-----for now. The falling dollar is a major concern for us living in Mexico. Hopefully, the dollar will come back!
