One tip I have that should save is turning the water heater temp down to where it is just warm enough to take a shower, but not warm enough to properly rinse dishes. I heat water for rinsing dishes in a black teapot using a solar cooker. You have to wear rubber gloves for sure because the water boils even in a low-tech cooker. Just wash dishes in cold water and rinse, then re-rinse in the solar hot water. I wash clothes in cold water. Solar cooking helps reduce AC too by not heating the house.
