The fire started approximately at 10:30 A.M. on September 20th, 2011. We noticed smoke billowing across the sky of our backyard and discovered the apartment next door was on fire! I captured this video as the firefighters arrived. We still are not 100% sure on what caused the fire but I over heard a lady say it may have been the oil tank in the basement.
I called them and they are picking up the furniture but they said they didnt need any clothes. I have dishes, silverware, glasses, mugs, etc etc. but they didnt seem to want it. I wish I could get in touch with the people or anyone else that may need the stuff, even if they werent in the fire. Is there a Fbook site up or anything else that you know of???
Thanks

Thank you all for the great remarks. after all I goto work everyday to help support the hand outs that are given. I also have to pay for my oil so therefore my heat has still been off, unlike most that when I drive by in the morning have there windows wide open and the heat going (obvious by the steam coming out the chimney)

@rblenkhorn It's not just common sense, perhaps they can't afford it because, oh I don't know, they LIVE IN LOW INCOME HOUSING?! Also, increasing tax for the rich is class welfare. Don't you know?

@domaingod You really think these people that live in low income housing have enough common sense to purchase renters insurance?

I'm sorry to see this happened. I live on the other side of Downeast School and was awakened by the wailing of the sirens turning the corner from Ohio St. Aside from that, I'm glad to see that everyone made it out alright and no one was hurt. I was sorry to hear of the two feline casualties from the fire. Pets are important members of the family too. I hope the ones affected will be able to get back to normal life soon.
