Kimber 1911 Pistols: Ultra Carry TLE ll (stainless)+takedown

Since I've had my Kimbers out of the safe for the past couple of days, figured I'd take a look at them a little more thoroughly. No groundbreaking new info, or earth shattering surprises here....just another look at some beautiful firearms (one at a time).
First up: the Kimber Ultra Carry TLE ll. [TLE = Tactical Law Enforcement and can be visually recognized by the 30 lines-per-inch checkering on the front strap and the dovetail mounted Kimber Meprolight Night Sights].

Honest opinion, should I get the Ultra TLE II or the Ultra Carry II? How much weight would you say that frontstrap checkering is worth? Does it really help a lot with your grip?

@plasticslap Tough call Doc...have to say I would go with whatever feels best in the hand. IMO the checkered front strap really does make a difference, but is it worth the extra dough?? Hard to say. Different strokes for different folks.

I put grip tape on the non-checkered front strap of my Springfield Range Officer and honestly it has worked just as well.

One Love the name " FistOfLegend" Two , Those are some beautiful Kimber's right there ! Very good video man, you were extremely informative and intelligent sounding when were describing and reviewing your pistols. I sured learned something. Yeah that 3" TLE in stainless or a 3" Raptor as well stainless will be my next Kimber. Im a big fan of the Crimson Trace as well , they work great. Good Job.

Great review. I have the black Kimber TLE (3").. about 1000 rounds through it. Amazingly accurate gun - completely reliable. Great carry size.

Thanks. Well done. I'm thinking about not carrying my Walther PPS 9mm for a duty weapon and going with this Kimber. I use DeSantis speed scabbards and have for 30 years so I want the Kimber to fit that as well. Again, thanks good job.

@FistsOfLegend1 I think the one I held was the same as yours. Had CT grips and all. They wanted $1100 but I can get a ultra carry II for $750. Grip tape makes it $758. I think I just made up my mind then. Thanks for the insight.
