First of all, thank you to all the United States Veterans for their service, and of course, all of those on Active Duty. This year's U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree came from deep within the remarkable Green Mountain National Forest, which celebrates this year its 75th anniversary. The 55 foot Balsam Fir was harvested on a blustery, snowy mountain area in Somerset, Vermont. This is the fourth time a Vermont Christmas Tree has graced the U.S. Capitol for the holidays. The first time, was in 1923, when Vermont-born Calvin Coolidge set up the first ever National Christmas Tree.
