Funk Bass Line

Watch carefully as you see the bass drum playing ghost notes as you would normally do on the snare. This is a technique inspired by Bonzo, but I'm really elaborating it. This type of groove maintains a constant pulse and gets people dancing and groovin'. This is the first time I've tried this angle--Notice how the bass drum head vibrates like a subwoofer :)

how did you develop that solid/tight style of playing? My timing isn't great and would really appreciate some tips. are their any specific books you worked from?

I studied Carmine Appice's book "realistic rock" but I don't really attribute the timing to that, rather practicing to a metronome and jamming along to tunes with headphones.
