Yes really. Just to go by your definition of 140 beats per minute with the final note being a quarter note, which it is in the score, a full length quarter note will not stop sounding until the downbeat of the second beat. This is not a staccato note in the score, and in fact has an accent over it. Set your metronome to 140 and sing a full length quarter note, and it is NOT short, but rather a full tone. Also, there is a ritard the last measure of the work that you clearly missed...
Ritenuto. It is a full note. And according to my music notation programme, this is closer to a full quarter note at quarter note = 60 bpm. Just saying. Why not take it down to quarter note = 40 bpm? I didn't see that this note was a staccato. The staccato-tenuto argument was only for example; not for concrete referencing. Fine, his quarter note is legitimate. So is my taste of the ritenuto not being THAT extreme. BPO is better anway. Do you wish to argue that to full extremes, as well? I'm done.
Of course I dont wish to argue extremes, but that has been my whole point. You decided to bring out metronome speeds and be scientific about this, which I would consider going to extremes. There are too many critics on youtube who feel they are smarter than the conductors actually on the podium. People should be less extreme and just enjoy what these Maestros and orchestras do, not pull out metronomes and be snobs about it. (not just you) So, no extremes, and I am done as well. Thank you.
