Uploaded to complement my playthrough of Mega Man X, which can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=EA2E9C41680BFEC4

Japanese version (with English subtitles) can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHUWk3PaMYA

Second upload of the OVA, this time being the English dubbed version. If the voice acting in the Japanese version was good, you certainly can't expect any less from the English dubbing, done just as professionally by Ocean Studios, which certainly are no strangers when it comes to Mega Man.

NOTE: My intentions initially were to upload this in HD, but I confronted a few hindrances that ultimately forced me to give up trying. Regardless, I made sure to keep the video's quality as close to the original as possible.

Enjoy!

PS: Even though the person that shared this version prefers anonymity, just like me, I'm certain each viewer appreciates your contribution. Thank you!

Here's a little information about the OVA:

• This OVA is included with the Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X video game, and becomes available upon beating the game.
• This OVA serves as a prologue to the game.
• Capcom meant to remake the first six games in the series, so this OVA was meant to be a retelling of the story; however, given that Capcom hasn't furthered the Maverick Hunter X series, most fans consider this OVA purely non-canonical to the X series as a whole.
• Interestingly, in the initial stages of the Mega Man X game for the SNES, the first stage, Central Highway, had a very similar design to the city portrayed in this OVA.
• Dr. Cain seemingly dies when the missiles impact Abel City; however, he was still alive during the events of Mega Man X2, X3, and Xtreme, and was mentioned in the instruction manual of X4. It's often debated whether or not he survived.
• The scene where Sigma releases Vile from prison is a tad longer in the English version—by about a minute or two.
• Interestingly, the phrase, "evolution requires sacrifice", was later said by Serpent, the main antagonist of Mega Man ZX. Additionally, it is purportedly a quote from Keiji Inafune himself.
• A rather interesting note regarding how Sigma got his scars, is that there are three versions of it: 1) he got them during his fight with Zero in Mega Man X4, 2) he did it himself upon going Maverick using the heat of his fingers in the Mega Man X manga, and 3) X scarred his face upon releasing his limitless potential, as seen in this video.
• OVA stands for "original video animation" and can also be written as OAV.

  • wow an HQ upload! The only problem I have with this *spoiler for those who havent watched yet* is the fact that the explosions seem to put Dr.Cain in his own coffin, could anyone have survived that? why does this matter? well...he is a key player in X2 and X3 LOLOL. If hes dead then whos X talking too in 2 and 3? lolol

  • Well, you need to take into account that the Maverick Hunter series were meant to be a retelling of the original story, as Inafune intended to redo the whole series. He essentially aimed to reestablish the canon properly, although the series would still go up to X8.

  • Wai-wai-wait...

Sigma and Chill Penguin... Good guys?!!

    Imma confused.

  • Most Mavericks were once good...surely you're knowledgeable of that if you've played the games.

Either way, this is a prologue that details Sigma's rise as a Maverick, and the fall of the world Reploids live in due to Sigma's revolt. After this event, the Maverick Hunters solidified in order to counteract against Sigma and his plans for supremacy.

  • If I'm not mistaken, the Zero Virus was invented by Dr. Wily. My info could be wrong, but I recall reading that somewhere.

  • @Jokerfaic

"THE GENERATOR X!! SHOOT THE GENERATOR!!" LOL

Anyways, i've heard that zero was the actual carrier of the virus that makes reploids go maverick.. so maybe penguin recieved it later.. could be wrong , but that's what I heard..

  • @ThePressStartProject Of course. It has been 5 years for all this. This makes me wish if they can continue like that. But it died....

  • Despite some of the questionably canon on it, his OVA is pretty epic. Thanks for the upload.

  • @ThePressStartProject i see, i forgot the other one was japanese dubbed, i also read your comment on Inafune..... goodbye Megaman, you truly were the face of capcom T_T

  • I know. I share your sentiment.
