The 1959 Galaxie was probably the prettiest Ford of the 1950's, IMHO... Interesting that when Ford messed up the 1960 models (designed in haste in response to the all-new '59 GM products [which themselves were panic responses to the 1957 Chrysler products!]), the 1961 Ford was redesigned and advertised as being "beautifully proportioned to the CLASSIC FORD LOOK" (read the 1959s)!

@bongomanfromdalou The 1960 Fords were designed in the spring of 1957, shortly after the introduction of the Skyliner. They were not hasty responses to GM's 1959 cars. They were totally different cars from the '59s and could not possibly be created and engineered in "response" to 1959 cars. It is true however that the 1961 Ford was designed shortly after the introduction of the 1960 Fords, as they required only a minor face-lift.

Myy dad had a beautiful red Galaxie, I learned to drive in it, wonderful. I think the 1960 Ford was one of their ugliest cars.
