@wvwarbird1 no, it may be a couple of $1000 to $2000. The reason the house has conduit is the requirement of the local code. Chicago has the best electrical code in the nation and it's backed up by the lack of electrical fires. I wouldn't mind paying extra to have such conduit put in a house here in PA.
It would be nice if they had to use emt here in WV. There wouldn't be an easy way to replace wire here, would have to open walls and everything. Probably cost 50,000 or more to completely redo an average sized home here.
