Areca is a free and open-source (GPLed) tools for back up computer data. Written in Java ans thus can run in many platforms. It has complete supporting tools which is much better and easier to use than Windows XP's inbuild NTBackUp.

  • Is this program capable of creating a backup, which is basically a copy of the entire drive?

I already did a backup for my external hard-drive onto another one, but it´s an image-format and I got to mount it before I can use it again. I don´t know if this will work, I would prefer to have a program that just copies the whole folder and all it´s data in the original form and then checks once in a week or month if there´s something new on the hard-drive.

Thanks :) 5 stars on the video.
