The Afghan story seems made up (did he stay there for 5 days? or did he leave on Saturday after he had the epiphany?). He has a point about happiness and fulfillment. It is very credible when he doesn't accompany it with a fake story.

I like Simon, he's inspired me on many an occasion yet in this speech... I also when stuck in a rut have thought "try help others" but this feeling only lasts a while because it's not 100% genuine. You need to love your job and your service to others, not try and help others just to feel better - that's tricking the mind. And, I dislike being negative but 4 days? Trying for 4 days, even in a war zone... it feels a bit like a spoilt brat. 4 days is nothing.

theres something here that doesn't quite ring true. generally I find followers want their leaders to eat first. sheep like for someone else to take responsibility, and the price of eating last is all part of the deal

Today speakers are a dime a dozen. This guy thinks he can go on stage unshaven shirt tail out shirt not buttoned up enough, and carry a special message.? Well I got two messages. Even slobs can be successful speakers and ...... damn I already forgot the other one!

There is a lot of hypocritical talk here because he talks how officers eat last, which makes them heros and leaders.... WRONG.... Real leaders realize that War in general is wrong and this war in particular is unjust for several reasons (but that's getting off the point here). Real leaders should stop this war altogether, period. Afghanistan are people just like us and they do not deserve to have their houses bombed and land taken over. This guy does not talk about the BIG PICTURE !!!!

Great speech on one level.... but this guy talks about integrity and serving others and not being racist and treating everyone like family.... mean while he seems to be glorifying the war on Afghanistan, a people who are no real threat to the US and there still is no official declaration of war against Afghanistan. This country is being unjustly occupied.... where is the talk about this injustice? Why is the military being racist against them? War is just wrong plain and simple !!!!!!!!
