Ayubowan to all our readers who have joined with us for the second issue of the online IT magazine diGIT. As you may know by now, this magazine is available for free reading in 3 formats. First of all, you can view each of the articles in the usual web page format. Secondly, you can download the pdf file that we have created and then view it offline. You can even distribute this freely among your friends and colleagues.Thirdly, we have an animated version that we have created, which is similar to the pdf version but this is done in flash in the form of a pageflip.

After we launched the premiere issue last month, there were many requests, both humble and some threatening to improve the layout and presentation of the website of the magazine. So as a result of our readers request, we have come up with a brand new design and some new features (including having the editorial in a video format).

In this months issue, first of all we have a number of new contributors who have joined with us. We have a number of feature articles, one on the importance of computers in a school environment. Then there is an eye opening article on Green Computing, teaching us the values of using computer resources efficiently. An introduction to the upcoming operating system by Microsoft, Windows 7 is also mentioned.

Not to forget are the study guides that are present, including the important ICT subject for the Ordinary Level students.

If you feel that you need further explanation, please feel free to comment in the article and the authors will get back to you with a clear cut answer to further improve your knowledge on the subject. All in all there are over 30 articles for you to go through.

So lets hope you would enjoy this months issue. As always, if there are ways in which we can further improve this magazine, please feel free to let us know. You can contact us via comments@digit.lk or you can even send comments directly to a particular article concerned.

As always, I would like to end this editorial with a quotation, this time by Horace Mann who once said
A teacher who is attempting to teach without inspiring the pupil with the desire to learn is hammering on cold iron

Let us hope that this magazine inspires the reader to go beyond the material presented in the hopes of fulfilling the thirst of the inquisitive mind.

Happy reading!
