    You can see the salty waterfront, creaky boardwalks, and the dark-timbered saloon by the dock, and the regulars who look like they just disembarked from a whaling ship in the 1800s, the teeming flee market and gypsy life, the nuts, the desperate, the working stiffs who just want to escape a little . . . All surveyed by this wonderfully mysterious, self-effacing bartender and her hard-one battles to stay afloat, keep the wolves at bay, and her faithfulness to memories of lost love.
