@hifhif123 The easier way to think about it is that it is a cube with side 5 minus a cube with side 4 = 125-64=61.

@hifhif123 i saw it as fast as him and im his age (im studying for this currently) i just made a diagram mentaly, 5x5 for the top, 4x4 for the front and 4x5 for the side, add the products and theres your answer

Quite a few of the these countdown participants made MOP this year, and Calvin Deng managed to be one of the six people representing the USA at the International Mathematical Olympiad.
Also Bobby Shen is pretty awesome.

how did he solve that last question. "how many 2x2x2 cubes must be added to an 8x8x8 cube to make a 10x10x10 cube". I know its (10^3-8^3)/8, but how do you do that sort of thing in your head, and at that age.
