  • A shot bag works well for stretching. Shrinking works much better on a stump. Since I started using a stump, a rarely use a bag. Thanks you for the comment!

  • Actually the metal is shrinking from the middle to the outside edge. If there is stretch it is in the middle. The outside of the "bowl" will end up in a smaller circumference than the original blank. If you measure radially, you will find that dimension has changed very little, compared to the smaller circumference. Thanks for commenting!

  • Nice video, good info:) How can i make a close to perfect cut out on the stump

  • I simply used some rotary rasps that chuck into my drill.

  • Nice video, Can this be achieved with a shot bag?

  • arent you really stretching the metal out towards the edge..the metal now longer between the center and the edge has to curve because it is longer.

  • Like it...nice and simple. I tried this it worked really well on an ash stump.

  • wow ..thanx for posting

  • just like thumb nail shrinking dies in the pullmax
