The company's newly appointed CEO, Larry Lenhart -- who remains part of Mohr Davidow Ventures -- recently published a video to YouTube explaining the firm's stance on privacy, in which he outright denies that Carrier IQ records keystrokes or provides tracking tools. Perhaps the company is truthful in its assertion, although the statement seems to contradict the design and capabilities of its software. -

@dwilmer7 Oh, and I found on google job request for Carrier IQ. Wanting experts in dealing with multi terabyte to petabyte databases. That is enough storage for roughly 60 digital photos for each of the 150 million phones they installed on. Moreover, that is just the size of each database, there could be multiple databases for each carrier. That is a lot of digital real estate for a company that "doesn't capture keystrokes"

Thank you for posting this. As users we need to complain to the carrier companies. Only with the threat of loss of profit will this change. This reminds me of the beginning of Terminator 3 or George Orwell's Big Brother. The consumer should be able to "OPT OUT!!!"

Carrier IQ is nothing more than a Data Mining Operation for Marketing Spammers. This is why it logs your txt messages, apps & key stokes. They want to know what you do, when you do it, & what you like, so they can sell this information to advertisers who will bombard you with Ads related to that. Carrier IQ in no way helps your carrier improve service. If your carrier cared about improving service, it would use the money to add more cell sites & not waste it on carrier IQ. Time to wake up folks
