I agree rotties are good dogs. My rottie never bit anyone, unless they beat me or threatened me(no one has though). Other than that, shes perfectly fine with people ;)

All larger breeds have potential to be anti social and dangerous if mistreated , dogs are a carnivore and predator.
Treating them with no respect for their potential can be just as dangerous as purposely bringing out aggression in them.
With a rotti you have a duty to socialize it correctly with as many other animals and people as you can during early development and you will end up with an animal that is more trustworthy than some humans.
ps nice dogs the rotti looks good with a tail.

look at that boo boo bear doogie

@pitt15220 Agreed, I'll never own another breed either

@ROTTIMAN31 You said it, it all comes down to how they are trained. I never trained mine for protection but if someone hugs me, she don't like it and will come over, grab their pantleg and pull them off me, or she will just start barking untill they let me go. I will never own any other breed, this is the most loyal and loving dog I have ever owned.

You described my rottie exactly, the only danger mine would threaten is if its possible to drown in dog slobber, cuz thats the only thing she would do is lick someone to death, once she starts licking she dont stop. Glad my nieghbors arent anything like yours, they like when my dog goes over and plays with their dogs and kids.
They are NOT vicious

Same here. Sushi has killed several field mice. I guess he's dangerous if you're a mouse. I figure it's not so bad because it helps keep the snakes away. I'm sure if this woman found out about Sushi's dangerous side that she's picket my front yard with a sign that reads "Save our mice"

Fab specimen of the breed - and lovely to see the tail in tact!!! :o) I have Staffys and a Patterdale and have recieved the same "devil dog" treatment re; the Staff. Ironically the Patterdale was harder to socialise as a pup.
Folks can be so ignorant. Ive known brilliant Rotties, Pits, Dobbies....as a previous poster said - its all to do with the upbringing.

@ffairyfunk, exactly. A bad owner makes for a bad dog. I guess it should really start with the breeder. Although breeders can't be 100% certain the potential owner won't be a complete douche. I had to jump through so many hoops just to take the pup home with me. It felt like I was given every opportunity to fail as an owner even before the dog was mine. That's a quality breeder.
