Socialists are killing each other all the time. You had the infighting on the republican side during the Spanish Civil War, you had the Stalinists vs. the Trotskyites, the Mensheviks vs. the Bolsheviks, and so on. Hitler hated the free market, and favored highly centralized, authoritarian government with a massive welfare state. As I said, Obama would have gotten a single payer if he could, but his own party wouldn't come together on it on account of the moderate wing. The Dems are on the left, while Obama is on the far left of American politics. Obama would fit right in at the French Socialist Party. Their party planks don't look all that different from the Dems. And you realize Hitler was a socialist right? They had government health care in Nazi Germany.

The left has a long history of being the militant side. Ever heard of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt? Obama's sympathies are on the far left. The only reason you didn't get a single payer system is that he couldn't get his own party behind it.

Hey, genius, Medicare is on the general operating fund. We're deficit spending to pay for it. That's why the Dems had to create a rationing board, IPAB, to prevent it from going completely under. Medicare and Medicaid together make up 23% of federal spending, more than all the military combined, which is 19%.
