  • thats glen trillbrook i can tell by the voice

  • Oh well, if you say so! Who is glen trillbrook?

I thought it was Glenn Tilbrook. I can tell by looking!

  • Glenn should be handed an AWARD for that solo, which is really a perfect little song of it's own inside a foundation of great song structure!

  • I keep meaning to respond to your comment, Matt. I agree wholeheartedly. Glenn is a fabulous guitarist, a fabulous songwriter and has a fabulous voice. He's also a really nice bloke!

  • glenn makees the solo look so easy/. I'm trying to work it out now and its the most awkward of shapes!

    Great performance.

  • Fantastic comment, nasratfatty! I had the pleasure of being the sound engineer for a solo gig that Glenn did for a friend's 50th, a couple of years ago. While they were soundchecking, the guitarist (another friend) asked if he could do the solo for another song. Glenn agreed.

I said: "Just as well it's not "Another Nail..." Neither Glenn nor Craig (the other guitarist) seemed to understand me. You do. and I'm a guitarist myself! It is a masterful piece of playing from Mr Tilbrook!

  • @MisanthropeLe Squeeze are second to nobody

  • @nasratfatty Ive been in a band since 1981 in High School, and we just didn't try Squeeze, Zappa, or any artist's songs we felt we couldn't do justice to. Its not only his shapes, its how tight their changes and parts are, great feel, and tack sharp technically also. I still marvel at why they never became HUGE in the states...but we are rather dim.

  • That solo should be awarded a gold medal ! Glenn is a genius, to write songs of such stature, sing so wonderfully and play such magnificent lead and rhythm guitar- unbelievable!! He makes me sick! It's gonna take me weeks to learn this solo and he just rattles it off with consummate ease! Squeeze were one of the best bands of the 20th century second only to The Beatles, Astonishingly good!!!!

  • @nickhirst999 Your so right , he is an amazing guitarist . I must have seen Squeeze around 40 times over the years not mention Glens solo gigs, I always wait for this solo. The solo on Some Fantastic place is another, it gives me goose bumps. Glen and Chris are so talented its scary , i've been into them since the first single , checkout my cover of Up The Junction on my channel, hope you like

  • jeez jools way to overplay a classic

  • @planejunky Glenn's lyric: "And here in the bar, the pianoman's found" makes clear that the what might appear to be over-the-top piano playing is something appropriate to the song, and that he wanted. And nothing about the syth line, which was a key element of the song's sound.

  • glenn is great and a most underrated musician great song writer too

  • @spitefulload Dead right - one of the finest composed and played solos in all rock and roll guitar history - perhaps THE finest - ask Eric.

  • @jeffreyshaw I love Jools, but I have to agree he over played this and spoiled it. A real shame as this is a class song.

  • jools made a mess of a 80s classic
