On April 23, 2011, a San Francisco Giants fan claimed that McDowell had used foul language, homosexual slurs, obscene gestures, and threats before a game at AT&T Park in San Francisco. It is alleged that he said, "Are you guys a homo couple or a threesome?" Justin Quinn of Fresno said he saw McDowell make crude sexual gestures at three men during batting practice. Quinn alleges that when he told McDowell that there were children present, McDowell replied that kids don't belong at a baseball park, picked up a bat and threatened him.
On April 27, Quinn and his family held a press conference with attorney Gloria Allred demanding an apology and action from Major League Baseball. McDowell apologized the same day, saying that he was "deeply sorry" that he responded to the heckling fans. MLB Commissioner Bud Selig said he found the allegations "very troubling" and that he would make a decision once a Braves investigation had been completed.
On April 29, 2011, McDowell was placed on administrative leave by the Braves while they investigated the allegations.
Gloria Rachel Allred is an American lawyer noted for taking high-profile and often controversial cases. She is the mother of former Court TV hostess Lisa Bloom. Allred appears in a cameo role in the film Rat Race, where Wayne Knight's character exclaims "Oh shit, it's Gloria Allred!" after she has witnessed him hit Enrico Pollini. She also appears earlier in the film where the Cody brothers, played by Seth Green and Vince Vieluf, attempt to start a lawsuit against a hotel by slipping on a glass they placed at the top of a set of stairs. Before they go through with their plan, a woman slips on the glass and falls down the stairs. At the bottom, Gloria Allred introduces herself and plans to sue the hotel for negligence.
In The Simpsons episode "Behind the Laughter," she counsels Lisa at the family's lawyer-ridden Thanksgiving, with an accompanying caption labeling her a "shrill feminist attorney."
In the South Park episode "Cripple Fight," Gloria Allred is Big Gay Al's lawyer against a Boy Scouts-like club that excludes homosexuals. She later accuses Al of homophobia when he attempts to withdraw the lawsuit.

And I play unfitting music. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each. The goal is to score runs by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond. Players on one team (the batting team) take turns hitting against the pitcher of the other team (the fielding team), which tries to stop them from scoring runs by getting hitters out in any of several ways. A player on the batting team can stop at any of the bases and later advance via a teammate's hit or other means. The teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs. One turn at bat for each team constitutes an inning and nine innings make up a professional game.
