Boxing made its Olympic debut at the 1904 Games in St Louis, since then boxing has been staged at each edition of the Games, except in 1912 in Stockholm, owing to Swedish law, which forbade the practice.
The rules have evolved since the 1980s: 1984 in Los Angeles: protective helmet obligatory; 1992 in Barcelona: set-up of an electronic scoring system to strengthen the objectivity of refereeing; 2007: standardised point scoring. Women's boxing will make its debut at the 2012 London Games in London.

ZOU Shiming is embarassment to the sport, he is not even fighting and runs like a chicken and holds and the commentators are like china will never produce someone like him. i tell u wat mate there will never be embarassment in the sport like zou shimming and judging and refereeing. boxing is dead in the olympics...

Part of being a good athlete is adaptation to diverse amounts of styles. Zou is a one trick pony. With effective counters and patience he has absolutely nothing. In the semi finals, barnes lost by a hair. In the final round he adapted to zou's hit and run style and was able to frustrate zou to the point where zou tried to stand toe-to-toe with an irishman (always a bad idea) and won the round by a landslide.
