  • i am glad it is being brought to light that people with autism can still become successful and appear "normal" my case is the same. i am somewhere between high funtioning autism and aspergers, so PDD-NOS. but i do not feel like anything is that different about me and it is not impossible for me to live a normal life

  • i wish a lot of people would see this.

  • I love this story but I dont like how the reporter talks over her.

  • Was Ms. Morrisey able to find and maintain a relationship which ended up in marriage?

Does she still have difficulties or struggle internally communicating with NTs?

  • awesome, its amazing how shes able to get up and speak everyday. My prof told me a secret for giving presentations with eye contact. Look at the back of the room instead. I cant make eye contact with presentation either, it scares me

  • She doesn't have 'Mild Autism'. She has regular Autism, which has been distortrd by the American News Media. Wanna' know who else had Autism? Albert Eistein.

  • @iferlandqueen yes I agree because I see it as a gift and i love having it! :)

  • I am a girl with Asperger's and thankfully I was diagnosed at 2 or 3 and what's hard is that my parents have both of their children that are Autistic. My brother and I he is low-functioning but is doing well and is the top of his class last year now going onto high school with me because I am junior and the reason why he is more and that you seen more "white" boys is that they are weakest and "white" girls are the strongest.

  • I was just diagnosed at age 37 with Asperger's. I make quilts, videos, art does help. This helps, to see someone my age, doing sew well with her class. I love Maureen's great attidude, it does show that our brains, they are a gift, the courage is yes, amazing.

  • i am 20 and i have asd and sometimes when i dont talk to people they think im being rude

  • I thought you only got and autisitic spectrum disorder diagnosis if it's having a significant and detrimental effect on being able to live your life.

Maybe that was at a time in her life when she had the ADHD diagnosis. She's certainly done ok so it doens't seem too much of a disability in her case.

Well done her anyway. Stand up for autism.

  • I can really relate to the woman as like her, my AS is not clear to see to so many people as I am able to put myself across almost as well as she does and be as vivacious as she seems.
