@jkfromcincty ... unfortunately, her name *rivera* probably kept her from becoming a household name, like a meryl streep, for example. if we're truly honest, hollywood and those in control of such things have never been open to promoting non-anglo performers regardless of their talent. i hope things change for the better but it probably won't.

Yea, but still, he has to be one of the most self-indulgent musical theatre actors of all time. And he can't do anything other than the stereotypical "uppity" black man role. He's always one step in his performances from saying "mammy."
